real food / fake times

Monday, December 1st, 2008

hopefully everyone had a good thanksgiving weekend…  turkey, cranberry sauce, mac and cheese, all the goodies.  it’s been cold in denver lately, but we had a good time over the weekend.

we had a visitor over the weekend that we want to mention, our friend, paul notzold from new york was in town!  for those of you who don’t know what paul does, it’s a concept called txtual healing, he’s traveled all over the world projecting people’s text messages on the sides of buildings…  “an ongoing series of interactive performances that encourage the creation of dialog through text messaging from mobile phones” (from txtualhealing.com)

we had a chance to discuss the possibilities of text message projections, it’s future, and our own work in the streets…  we were really excited to hear that paul was interested doing projects with the magnet mafia in the future!!  what exactly does that mean?  you’ll just have to wait and see…

—

before paul came to denver, he brought us a copy of the fake new york times, it’s crazy!  he gave us a brief rundown of the operation, personal investments, and execution of one of america’s biggest media stunts ever…

it’s pretty amazing actually, 1.2 million copies were made!  all the articles, advertisements, everything inside is fabricated; printed on legit newsprint paper and dated july 4th, 2009…  we’re glad to know there are still people in the world that are willing to take big risks to make these kinds of things happen.  thanks paul!!  read the complete issue of the fake new york times online.

by the way, it’s magnet monday, who’s got photos?  we do…  lookout-
