Friday, June 6th, 2008

jay paul apodaca, aka the 5th sword, has finally opened another art gallery!!  paradox is the new gallery’s title, it’s about 10 minutes outside of downtown denver, it has a killer sound system, and the walls are rockin!  paradox will be open for the first time to the public this friday.  the main exhibit will be a large compilation of jay’s own paintings, zombie 138, myself, and a mystery artist will also be showing at paradox…  does anybody remember luz? jay’s last gallery on south broadway?

i stopped in this week to get a few shots of jay’s recent work.  check it out!

the night doesn’t stop early at jay’s gallery…  while most showrooms close down after 9 or 10pm, parardox will just be warming up, doors open at 8pm and the live music starts at 10pm.  check it out!  paradox is on the northeast corner of sheridan and jewell.

oh yeah, matt let me know we’re on the roster for another art in the city afterhours session!  art on display will include the work of ray young chu, matt doubek, and about 10 other artists, musical performance by the talented andrea ball, and we’ll be painting live through the night.  the aitc gallery is located at 2762 walnut street, doors open at 9pm.

andrea ball + tote bag show

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

it seems like we’ve been doing a lot of cool stuff lately…  we’re actually pretty busy putting things together!  so it’s cool to think that we painted live last week on thursday and a custom art piece was in a show over 1000 miles away on friday!  anyway, check out the goods…

singer / songwriter / musician, andrea ball playing on stage while we were painting in the crowd.  she’s awesome live, and we were glad a lot of people came out for her official cd release party!  look out for her album online and at your local music shops…

we painted our own version of andrea’s cd cover…  we got to a pretty good stopping point by the end of the music, we still have to do some touchups and details…  once the painting is complete, we plan on making magnet prints for andrea to sell at her concerts!  stay tuned for that…

(photo originally posted on the open space gallery blog) the tote bag show in new york looked like a lot of fun!  over 100 totes were completed for the show at open space.  the show will stay up until may 4th, and the totes are for sale online now, click here to see them all!  100% of the profits go to the hudson river sloop clearwater,  an environmental education and advocacy organization.

painting the mood

Monday, April 7th, 2008

we’ll be painting live this thursday!!  it’s been a while since we’ve done a live thing, since january, so it’s about time to get down again…  we’ll be at the hi-dive for andrea ball’s cd release party!  andrea ball, john common, and hello kavita will be playing all night.

if you haven’t seen us paint live, you should!  every painting is a little different, they are a reflection of the energy we feel from the audience, the colors and content we paint comes from them.  this paint session will be interesting because the music will be much slower than we normally paint to.  don’t miss this one, stop by and say hello!  buy tickets here
